Laos is situated at north east of Thailand. There are two major airports in the country one at Vientiane and another at Luang Prabang. There are flights available to Laos from Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur. You can visit Laos in addition to your trip Thailand or Malaysia. One week is ideal to explore the whole country.
