I arrived at Seoul early morning. I planned a visit to the Seoraksan national park on the same day. I took the bus from Seoul airport to Sokcho which takes about 3 hours. The bus is only available 3 times during the day so you have to plan accordingly. If you arrive after 9 then I will not recommend a visit to the park because it takes around 4 hours to hike in the park and visit different scenic points.
After I reach Sokcho I took another bus to reach the Seoraksan national park. It takes only 30 minutes to reach the place. The national park has lot of great mountains, waterfall and forest area. You cant see all the places in a day. Based on your time and fitness you can visit the place in about 4 hours. There was a very famous statue of a bear and a Buddha at the national park. I have noticed lots of trees without leaves in this region because of the cold and dry weather.
Around 5 pm I took a bus back to Sokcho and then took another bus from Sokcho to Seoul. It takes about 2.5 hours to reach Seoul from Sokcho. You can also join a day tour from Seoul if you are interested in visiting the place. Very basic hiking is required in order to explore all the places.
