I feel sad after visiting the Capital city of Cambodia

Phnom Pehn was my last destination in Cambodia. I started my day by visiting Choeng Ek. The place was the most visited place in Phnom Pehn. It was located by about 20 mins ride from central Phnom Pehn. The place was a burial site of victims from the Khmer Rouge era.It was a mass grave of all people killed in between 1975 and 1979. The place is famous for the glass-stupa which is filled with skulls. The scene was very sad and they are still finding new skeletons from the place. Lots of people were very emotional during the tour of Choeng Ek.

Our next destination was Tuol Sleng Genocide museum. The museum was used as a prison camp and as an interrogation center during the Khmer Rouge era. Lots of people were tortured and killed at the prison camp. The prison camp was filled with different kinds of tools which were used to torture the prisoners.

Royal palace and Independence monument are major tourist attractions of Phnom Pehn. These tourist attractions are situated at the center of the city very close to each other.

The people of Cambodia are still very poor. Lots of development in infrastructure is still needed to make the life of people better. Tourism is an important source of revenue for Cambodia. I believe it will help a lot of people to get jobs and also it will help them to make their life better. Apart from flights and hostel you don’t need to prebook anything. All the tours and motorcycle rental can be done on the spot. A week in Cambodia is perfect and it can be easily combined with a trip to Vietnam or Thailand. Later I read the history of Cambodia and I felt very sad. Khmer Rouge killed almost half the people of Cambodia. The story of some of the prison camp were very sad.
