I was really fascinated by my first trip to northern Vietnam. I wanted to explore more of Vietnam and wanted to try different kinds of Vietnamese food which were completely different from that of other South East Asian cuisine. After my research I found out that Hoi An is the most beautiful town in Vietnam and it was constantly ranked at No.1 in terms of tourist review. I wanted to explore Da Nang, Hoi An and Hue because these places were situated close to each other. I had a long weekend so decided to visit central Vietnam. The best way to explore the region is by renting a motorbike. I booked my motorbike online and the same was delivered at the airport. Basic google map was very handy for navigation and the roads were fantastic for driving.
Dragon Bridge – When I was travelling from airport to my hotel I crossed this bridge. The dragon bridge at Da Nang was famous for its unique architecture. The bridge was a 600 m long bridge over Han river which connected Da Nang airport and Coastal areas of Da Nang. If you see from far the bridge looked like a dragon floating over water. Every Saturday night they organize fireworks. The area close to the bridge was very crowded on the day of the fireworks.
My khe beach – My Khe beach is one of the longest beach I have ever visited. The length of the beach was around 10 km. There are lots of resorts and restaurant situated just beside the beach. The main road of Da Nang runs just parallel to the beach and it increases the accessibility of the place. The place was located around 6 km from Da Nang city. There were lots of tourists on the beach but since the beach was very big it didn’t look crowded at all. I stayed at a hotel near the beach but didn’t spend that much time at the beach.
Thanh Binh Beach – The beach was located very close to the city. There were lots of restaurants and hotels situated near the beach. The beach is a small beach having length of around 2 km. The place is very popular among local people because it was situated very close to central Da Nang. I visited the place during a week day and the place was completely empty. You can also spot some small traditional Vietnamese boat near the beach.
Lady Buddha – The Buddha statue was situated on the main road which connects Da Nang and Hue. The Buddha statue was the tallest statue in Vietnam. The statue was located at Linh Ung Pagoda and it was around 9 km from My khe Beach. The statue is situated on a mountain and the statue faces the sea. The statue can be seen easily from almost all parts of Da Nang. This was our last stop for the day. The view of the Da Nang city and My khe beach from the complex was amazing. You can realize the vastness of the beach from the Buddha statue. The statue was located inside the Linh Ung pagoda. The pagoda was one of the biggest pagoda at central Vietnam. After seeing the sunset at the complex I returned to Da Nang.
After the tour I took a long nap because next day I was supposed to visit hue early morning. The drive from Da Nang to Hue takes about 3 hours and I had to leave for hue early morning.
