Hoi An – Magical Ancient town of Vietnam

Hoi An – Magical Ancient town of Vietnam

Hoi An is situated just 25 km from Da Nang.  Most of the top notch resorts were situated on the way between Hoi An and Da Nang  After a long ride from Hue i reached my hotel at Hoi An at 8 pm.

Most of the tourist places at Hoi An were located at Hoi An ancient town. My hotel was situated around 2 km away from the ancient town. The ancient town has lots of stores for shopping and most of the famous tourist spots were located in the area. Motorbikes and cars were not allowed inside the ancient town. Cycles were allowed inside the ancient town.

Japanese Bridge – My first stop during the trip to Hoi An was Japanese bridge. The Japanese bridge was a wooden bridge which was used by pedestrians for crossing a small canal. There were elaborate carvings on the bridge. The bridge was made in the 18th century. The roof of the bridge was helpful for pedestrians in order to protect them from rain and sun.

Assembly hall of Fujian– The assembly hall was used by people of Fujian in order to help them socialize.  The architecture of the hall was inspired from Chinese architecture. The place was included as an important world heritage site. Thien Hau temple was located inside the assembly hall.

The best part of Hoi An ancient town was the yellow and blue color buildings. It was a great place in order to take some good pictures for your Instagram. There were multiple temples and hall situated at the ancient town.

An Bang Beach – An Bang beach was located around 6 km from the ancient town. It takes around 20 minutes to reach the beach from Hoi An. The beach was very beautiful because of its white powder sand. The beach was also not crowded compared to the My Khe beach at Da Nang. People interested in water-sports can go for surfing, parasailing and Jet-ski ride. There are small shops and restaurants located near the beach.

Marble Mountain – The marble mountain was located on the main highway between Hoi An and Da Nang. You can get great coastal view from the top of the marble mountain. It was just 15 minutes ride from An Bang Beach. The marble mountains consist of five limestone hills. You can take stairs or lift to the top of the mountain. There were lot of caves and Buddhist temple on the top of the mountain. The area is also famous for its stone cutting skills. You can buy lots of small souvenir made from marble at the shops situated near the complex.  Around afternoon time I started my 30 minutes trip to the airport.

All the places were reasonably priced compared to other countries. You hardly spend USD 40 a day for your trip to Vietnam including stay. Vietnam is seeing recent increase in number of tourist after they opened up their country with simple visa policy. You must visit the place as soon as possible before it becomes extremely crowded and touristy like Thailand. The Vietnamese people were very friendly and they will go out of their way to help you. I would recommend one should spend at least 4 days for a trip to central Vietnam.
