During my second day at Boracay I took the island hopping day tour. Our tour started around 9 am. Initially we cruised around the Boracay island for first 2 hours and we stopped at multiple location for snorkeling. Our first stop was magic island. The island is famous for cliff jumping. There are lots of sections along the island with marked height and based on your experience you can do the cliff jumping from the height of your choice. We had a 1 hour stop at the island. You can choose your spot and dive into the spectacular turquoise water.
Our next tour was crocodile island. The island was a beautiful place for snorkeling. The coral reefs were colorful and we were really lucky to see some rare sea creatures like lion fish. After another round of snorkeling we stopped at another island for lunch. We tried some great local cuisine during our buffet lunch. We tried seafood, chicken,whatever you name it was there. They also provided us free drinks.
After lunch we started our island hopping tour and reached Crystal Cove island resort. The island is famous for two coves and its private white sand beach. If your tour doesn’t include entrance fee, then you have to pay the fee at the ticket counter. There is also a trekking route which covers both sides of the islands. The trail was amazing where you walk along the cliffs and get great views of outlying islands. The first cove was near the entrance and it was easily accessible. You have to follow the hiking trail in order to reach the second cove. The path to the cove involves a small bridge and walking on water with huge pebbles. Huge waves crashes along the island shores all day and you can also visit to the shell museum situated in the island.
Our last stop of the day was Puka beach. The beach has a unique sand structure. The Puka shells are crushed and mixed with white sand. The sand still has smooth texture to it and it still white in color. Compared to white beach the place was less crowded . The beach is more preferable for experienced swimmers because it quickly gets deep and most of the time the water is rough at the beach. This is probably the best place to relax in the island. You can rent beach chair at an affordable price and can enjoy the beautiful uninterrupted sunset from the beach. After the sunset we returned to the white beach and our tour ended there.
The departure time of my flight from Kalibo was 5 pm. I had my transfer from the hotel around 12 pm. I woke up early morning on my third day and started jogging around the beach from station 3 till station 1. It was less crowded early morning and the weather was fantastic. I was also very lucky to see the beautiful rainbow over the island. I finished my trip to Boracay after a great lunch buffet.
Overall it was a great 3 days escape to one of the most beautiful beach destinations around the world. I visited the place during Chinese new year and it was crowded. The beach was vibrant and there was something to do for people of all age groups. I would recommend to visit the place during November till March. It is advisable to visit the place during tourist season because of calm water and great nightlife. Otherwise you might get cheaper accommodation during off season but you won’t be able to do any kind of activity because of bad weather.
