Byron bay is a small town located near Gold Coast. It is famous for surfing, whale watching and scuba diving. It is a popular destination among backpackers. Recently the town is becoming a fast growing adventure sports destination in Australia after introduction of adventure sports like sky diving and paragliding. Byron bay light house is also a famous landscape around the region. Flight to Gold Coast from Cairns takes 2 hours and from airport it takes 1 hour shuttle bus ride in order to reach Byron Bay. I reached my hostel around 1 pm and it was situated near the town centre.
The main beach is situated close to town and it is a popular place among locals and tourists. It was a perfect day for surfing and the main beach was full of surfers. You can also climb to the lookout point near the beach in order to have a bird’s eye view of the surrounding. The view point is located close to a rocky shore and you can easily see huge waves crashing the shore.
After visiting main beach I started following the trail along the coast. It takes around 2 hours walk from the Byron bay town center in order to reach the Cape Byron light house. There passed lots of small beaches along the trail and finally we started climbing some stairs. The Cape Byron light house is situated at the top of a cliff so there is some amount of uphill climbing involved in the trail.
There are several points to take amazing picture of the cliffs and the beautiful blue Pacific Ocean. I reached a point which was marked as the eastern most point of the Australia and it was situated on the cliff. After a short walk from the point you can see the first sight of the white light house. Cape Byron light house is fully operational and it became very popular after it was featured in a famous TV series.
The view of the sunset was epic from the lighthouse. It was very windy because the light house was situated at one of the highest points. You get great 360 view of the surroundings from this place. I waited at the place till sunset and the sunset was amazing. I walked back along the main road in order to reach Byron bay town. If you have a car you can also follow the main road in order to reach the light house but I recommend to follow the trail because it is more scenic.
The view of the Tallow beach was amazing from the light house. The beach is usually isolated because it is far from town. It is popular among experienced surfers because the waves are bigger compared to main beach. The next day morning I visited tallow beach. It was a very long beach but there were only 5 people surfing around the place and I saw some people jogging near the beach.
