Jeju island East Course tour

Jeju island East Course tour

Jeju island is a volcanic island which is situated towards the south west of Korea mainland. There are domestic flights to Jeju from Seoul and Busan. If you are coming directly to Jeju then there are direct flights from Shanghai, Tokyo and Hong Kong.  Jeju island has a free visa policy for most countries and the free visa is only valid for the trip to Jeju island. I visited the island only for 2 days. I stayed at Yeha guesthouse. The guesthouse also organizes day tour to various part of the island.  There have 3 course around the island which are east course, south and west course. I only visited the east and the south course of the Yeha tour. The day tour started around  8 am and I had my pick up from the Yeha guesthouse.  Our first stop was for horseback riding. We ride the horse for 1 hour then moved on to our next destination. There was nothing special about the horse riding. When Mongolians came to Jeju island long back they also brought the Mongolian horses with them that’s why Jeju also has a good number of horses.

After the horse riding we visited a traditional Jeju island folk village at Seongeup. There were people staying at the traditional village in order to take care of the place. The place looked completely different from Korean folk village in Seoul.

After the trip to the traditional village we went for lunch. Jeju island is famous for its black pork. The black pork meat is very delicate and tender compared to other meat and they are raised in small farms all around Jeju island. After a great black pork barbecue we went to the Seongsan llchulbong peak.

The peak was a volcanic mountain having a very weird shape. This place was the most famous place at the Jeju island and it was very crowded. After a small hike I reached at the top of the peak. The view from the peak was incredible.

After the visit to the peak I attended the women divers show. Women divers dives without oxygen in order to catch seafood from the floor of the sea. This tradition is a really old tradition in Jeju island and it is still widely followed.

During the evening time we visited the Manjang cave after a brief stop at a beach.

Manjang cave was the biggest cave I have ever visited in my life. Only some part of the cave was accessible to tourists. There was perfect lighting inside the cave. We walked almost 2km inside the cave in order to reach the end of the tunnel. It was a volcanic cave and it was very cold inside the cave compared to the outside.

I reached my hotel around 6 pm. I visited the famous black pork street at night in order to try the black pork barbecue for dinner. The meat was very tender compared to normal pork meat. The black pork barbecue was fantastic and it was the highlight of my trip to Jeju island.
