Nami island is situated almost 2 hours drive from central Seoul. It is widely recommended to book a day tour from Seoul in order to visit the island. You can also book round trip transfer to the island and you can explore the island at your own pace. I booked a day tour to the island. Since in South Korea the google navigation doesn’t work I didn’t want to take any risk. The island was located near Chuncheon and you have to take a 30 minutes ferry in order to reach the island. The island is a half moon shaped and its great to visit the island during the spring season to see yellow flowers. Nami Island is famous for its iconic tree lined avenues. It is not advisable to visit the place during the winter season because you wont be able to see any leaves on the tree. I visited during April I couldn’t see any yellow leaves on the tree. It was completely different from lots of iconic photos of the island.
You can rent bicycle or electric swegway in order to explore the island. There are lots of places to eat at the island. It is a great place for relaxation. Our return trip was planned at around 4pm and It took 2 hours to reach Seoul.
Seoul was overall a great trip. I would recommend skipping the Seoraksan national park if you are not keen to visit mountains and hiking. 4 days trip to Seoul is ideal and you can add 3 days for a trip to South Korea’s iconic Jeju island. Please check out my trip itinery for Jeju island.
