Siem Reap is the gateway to the iconic Angkor Wat temple. The place was voted as the no 1 place to visit in 2017. Apart from Angkor Wat, Siem Reap has other temples like Angkor Thom, Angkor Way, Bayon temple and Tomb raider temple. Tomb raider temple is famous for tomb raider movie. The temple compound is around 80 sq km. It is difficult to walk around all the temples. The best way to visit the temple is by hiring a motorcycle guide. You can hop on the back seat of the motorcycle and he will help you to visit all the places.The cost of the motorbike guide tour was 30 USD and at the end of the tour the guide dropped me at the mad monkey hostel.
1st stop of the trip was Angkor Wat. It was situated 30 minutes ride from the airport. The currency of Cambodia is USD. There is a entrance fee for all the temples. Angkor Wat temple is vastly underrated and the complex are is huge. It takes at least 2 hours to visit the temple.
The next stop was Bayon temple. The place was 20 minutes ride from the Angkor Wat temple.
After Bayon temple we took a ride to the Tomb Raider temple. The place was very famous because of the Tomb Raider movie.
The best place to stay at Siam Reap is the Mad Monkey hostel. The place is very popular among backpackers and it is very close to the pub street. People interested in night life should visit the pub street. The place was open till early morning hours.
A day is more than enough visit the iconic city of temples. The next morning I took a flight to Phnom Pehn and then a small bus ride to visit Sihanoukville which is the coastal town of Cambodia.
