Ao Nang is a perfect place for visiting island hopping tours. There are primarily 4 kinds of day tours offered from Ao Nang. These are 4 Island tour, Hong island tour, Phi Phi island tour and James bond island tour. The prices for the tour range between 1000 baht and 1500 baht. Except James Bond island tour i visited all other day tours.
4 Island Day tour
During my 3 days visit to Ao Nang I decided to go for 4 island tour on the 1st day. The pick up service was directly from the hotel and they will drop you off near the pier. The pier had so many boats ready to pick up customers. You will get lost there if you don’t get a guide. It was very crowded but we started on time. The tour duration was from 8 am till 5 pm.
Phra Nga Caves – The first stop in the tour was Phra Nga caves. It was an island with Limestone Mountains and a beautiful beach. The place was very crowded.It was very difficult to swim because of the presence of lots of boats near the beach.
Chicken Island – After spending 2 hours at our first destination we visited Chicken island. There was no stop for the island. We just had a view of the chicken island from far. It seems the island had no beach or no place to dock. I saw some people climbing the mountain using ropes.
Tup Island- After chicken island we went to Tup island. It was a small island with a sand bank. The place was overcrowded and there was no place to swim. The guide gave us 2 hours to spend on the island but since the island was so small and overcrowded there was hardly anything to do for 2 hours. The water was very clear since I am from India I have never seen water so clear. Even if lots of tourist come to the place the place was clean and there was no presence of any trash.
Poda Island- Poda island was our last stop in the day tour. We ate our lunch at this island . The island was pretty big and It was perfect for swimming. The lunch was traditional Thai lunch with chicken, pork,vegetables and rice. We were supposed to leave at 4 pm back to Ao Nang and we had almost 2 hours to enjoy the beautiful island. If you search Krabi then you will probably definitely see the famous photos of Poda island.
Day Tour to Hong Island
I took a tour to Hong Island on the second day. The guide picked me from my hotel and dropped me at the pier and we got into our boat by around 8 am. We stopped at one small island before visiting Hong island. The island was perfect for swimming and the tour was far less crowded compared to the 4 island tour. I would recommend the tour for people interested in swimming.
After spending 2 hours at our first stop we reached Hong island. This was our last stop and the place was not crowded at all. We stayed here for 3 hours before proceeding back to Ao Nang. This was also a good place for kayaking. We had our lunch at the island and the lunch was pretty similar to the lunch i had during the 4 Island day tour.
