Koh Samui
The direct flight to Koh Samui from Bangkok was very expensive. I decided to go to Koh Samui via Suratthani. After reaching Suratthani we had to take a bus to Suratthani pier and from their we took another ferry ride to reach Koh Samui. It took almost 10 hours to reach our guesthouse. I would recommend to directly fly to Koh Samui it is worth paying extra for the flight ticket.
The island has lot of resorts and also affordable hostels. I would recommend to stay near chaweng area. Best way to visit the island is by rented motorcycle but be careful the island has one of the highest deaths due to motorcycle accident. The main road circle around the island and the total length of the road is around 70km. It is a great drive along the beautiful coastline of koh samui.
Beach- Chaweng and Bhoput beaches are the two most popular beaches in the island but they are very crowded. There are more than 10 beaches in Koh Samui and the best way to visit them is by motorcycle. You can try water-sports like kayaking, Jet-ski and diving.at Chaweng beach.
Hin Ta Hin Yai –It is a very famous tourist destination in the island. You can visit the place to see some fascinating rock formation. The place is situated very close to Lamai beach.
Viewing point – Koh Samui has lots of viewing points around the island. The most famous place is jungle pub. The place is situated on the top of a hill and the roads are very steep. It has a beautiful restaurant on the top and the view from the place is brilliant.
Lamai view point is another popular place for tourist. It is situated on the way to Lamai beach from Chaweng . They have a facility to do zip-line at this point. The view is similar to that of jungle pub but I think Lamai viewpoint is situated at a lower height than jungle pub.
Koh Phangan
Koh Phangan is another island situated to the east of koh samui. It takes 1 hour to reach from Koh Samui to Koh Phangan. This is very popular place among the backpackers. The island hosts the infamous full moon party once every month. Please book in advance if you are planning to visit the place during the full moon party. The island is less developed than Koh Samui and has a raw feeling to it.
Be careful of your belongings at the full moon party. Please drink responsibly and always take care of yourself.You can find details of the full moon party here

Koh Tao
Koh Tao is situated 2 hours ferry ride from koh phangan. Ferries are available from the main ferry pier on the island of koh Phangan. Koh tao is famous for snorkeling and diving because of its crystal clear water. Koh Tao has significant less tourist compared to Koh Samui and Koh Phangan. We took another boat ride from Koh Tao to the beautiful island of Koh Nang Yuan.
Koh Nang Yuan
Koh Nang Yuan is a small island 1 hour away from Koh Tao. You have to hire small private boat to go to the island. There are 3 islands connected by a big sandbar. The place was not touristy because it was so far from the crowded island. It has a small resort and a restaurant and everything in the restaurant was bit pricey. We had only 3 hours to spend in the island because we had to catch the return ferry from Koh Tao to Koh Phangan which was 2 hours long.
The best view of the islands can be seen from a viewing point. It takes about 30 minutes to climb to the top and the view from the top is exceptional!!!
We spent almost all of our time near the viewpoint. It was really crowded because everyone wanted to take pictures from the viewpoint but the place was small. We went down took a nice overpriced drink at the restaurant and went back towards Koh Tao pier in order to take our ferry back to Koh Phangan.
I recommend spending 3 days in Koh Samui, 2 days in Koh Phangan and a day tour to Koh nang yuan. The best part of the island trip were the motorcycle ride along the beautiful roads of Koh Samui and the tour to the beautiful Koh Nang Yuan island.
